RE: "zincf will tell you monster silk 1 was not intended for production because they were not big enough worms" [not sure whose post that quote was passed forward from] That is a gross misinterpretation! Go back and read what I actually said.

This issue was discussed in great detail quite awhile back. I believe that the consensus was that Kim had been fair and accurate in all of his remarks but that a few of the posters here were confusing their misinterpretations with what was actually said and claiming he'd indicated that things were farther along than they were at the time.

Nothing, IMHO, could be farther from the truth.

"The worm" obviously did not mean that exact worm. And they mentioned that they had only a few dozen or so. So it was quite obvious that the worms would have to be bred up to a larger population and any reasonable person (which may not apply to all, IMHO) would realize that would take a bit of time.

As a technical point: there has been NO "switch" to a larger worm. The production worms come from breeding a Monster Silk worm with a large commercial worm. As I pointed out before that development was announced, one way to protect the technology is to have TWO breeding worms so that the production worms are hybrids and cannot be themselves stolen and bred to create more production worms (because hybrids do not breed true). So the production worms are bred from a Monster Silk worm crossed with a large commercial worm. This is not a "switch", it's just adding the other half of the package. and all of it was part of THE PROCESS OF COMMERCIALIZATION. Which is exactly what Kim was talking about doing when he said "the worms are ready to be commercialized".

There was no discrepancy whatsoever. The Monster Silk worms WERE in fact, ready to be comercialized. And that process involved breeding up the population which is still being done.

So my point is that there is no reason for suspecting that there was any "change of plans" whatsoever. Kim has and is doing what he almost certainly planned on doing all along.

People really need to grasp the basic concept that there is a LOT more going on behind the scenes than we know about and should not, therefore, be surprised when they find out that things had not developed exactly as they expected.

There has been no contradiction whatsoever here nor any "change". So any suggestion that Kim somehow "misled" investors is wildly inaccurate and misguided. I can see how someone could reasonably interpret the use of the large commercial worm as the "other half" of the breeding lines as a "change" but in reality it was not (or at least not necessarily. We don't know what Kim planned at the time of the CC but there is every reason to believe that the large commercial worm was part of the planning all along and no reason for believing that it wasn't.)

Often such nervous over interpretation (as I'm IMHO seeing here)may be a sign that one is overextended (investing money that is borrowed, cannot be left in for more than a short period or just too large a part of ones portfolio) So if anyone is particularly bothered by such things they might want to consider adjusting their investment to better suit their risk tolerance and individual circumstances.
