codes: The "why" in your question is removed when you take away the falsity that NeoMedia "are the owners of indirect."

Indirect was around long before NeoMedia. Indirect mobile was around long before NeoMedia. Think FedEx and UPS. The guys ordering groceries at road's Kroger were using mobile to scan indirect codes (both UPC and item codes) with their Texlon units in the 80s.

So maybe management wasn't less intelligent or industrious as the group concensus at iHub. That said, I am sure NeoMedia declared such proposterous things at one time or the other. It simply wasn't possibly true.
