O2Micro® International Limited (Nasdaq:OIIM) was issued 23 claims under United States patent number 7,994,660 for its Intelligent Adapter architecture; a continuation of the invention issued July 2010 under United States patent number 7,622,830.
The Intelligent Adapter architecture dynamically allocates available power between the batteries and the system. This architecture is applicable to many electronic systems such as computers, cellular phones, radios, printers, and PDAs.
Laszlo Lipcsei, vice president, O2Micro, remarked, "This patented adapter topology can be used with any electronic device, portable or non-portable, that uses an adapter to distribute power, including a variety of mobile equipment applications."
