I had a small claim in the area of the BONZ claim, if you are serious, let me tell you a few things:

1. There are some seriously mean cacti in the area;
2. People see mountain lions, scorpions, and my favorite, rattle snakes;
3. Take a lot of water, then take about double that amount you just put in the back of your 4-wheel drive;
4. Be sure to have 4-wheel drive, the washes and gullies are very steep;
5. Be sure to dress appropriately, an hour in the sun here is like a few days in the midwest;
6. Most of the gold on the surface is likely to be the size of dust particles or sand, be sure to bring a magnifying glass to be able to see it. Unless you get extremely lucky, which is what the rock hounds who scope out other people's claims hope to get;
7. Lastly, be sure to take a GPS and a cell phone. Everything looks the same, hills, sand, and cactus, it is easy to get turned around. Fill up your gas tank, expect it to take 3 times longer to find your way there from a main road, and if you get lost or have an accident, use your GPS and cell phone to get help.

Good luck. In this summer heat, you will need it. It isn't unusual for us to have a 110 to 117 degree day. It doesn't "cool" off until late November, and by "cool" I mean summer temps in the midwest.

I have been watching BONZ, and at some point I am planning on getting in, but not until it is steady in the .01's to .02's.

Be safe and good luck to everyone....
