Paula, I was just responding to what the media is reporting when they say it's the worst Christmas in 30 years. IMO that would imply that retail sales were lower than they have been in 30 years. Going by the national numbers it was the least amount of increase year over year in 30 years. Sales look to be up 2.5% over last year.

I have no idea how your industry did but I think it would be fair to say that the jewelry industry did not face the worst (lowest) sales in 30 years. Maybe this segment was down from last year. The reason I brought it up was that I had to explain the headline and what it meant to one of my customers. I think the headline is misleading.

That said, I bet that next Christmas we will indeed have a sales decrease from the year before (this past Christmas).
