Switch Metals eyes fast-track tantalum output in Côte d'Ivoire as it lists on AIM

Switch Metals Plc (AIM:SWT) CEO Karl Akueson talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s listing on London’s AIM market and its focus on developing tantalum projects in Côte d'Ivoire. Akueson explained that Switch Metals, a private company he founded, was acquired through a reverse takeover by Oneiro Energy. The company's flagship Issia project hosts tantalum mineralisation, including occurrences of coltan at surface. According to Akueson, this provides an opportunity for near-term production from shallow deposits, with the company aiming to reach output within the next two years. He described tantalum as “a very strategic technology metal… in our mobile phones, laptops, plasma TV, everything we use daily,” highlighting its importance and rarity. Akueson emphasised that 60% of the global supply currently comes from the DRC and Rwanda, and Switch Metals aims to become a significant alternative source. Discussing the decision to list in the UK, Akueson pointed to his personal background and the UK’s long-standing understanding of African production. Immunic CMO discusses significance of MS Awareness Month; progress with treatment

Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX) chief medical officer Dr Andreas Muehler talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s work in multiple sclerosis (MS) as MS Awareness Month concludes. Muehler discussed the importance of continued research funding and the community’s role in advancing treatment. He highlighted the company’s lead asset, vidofludimus calcium, which is in advanced-stage clinical trials. Results from the phase 2 EMPHASIS trial in relapsing-remitting MS showed a reduction of about three-quarters of new MRI lesions compared to placebo. Muehler said, “This is a very good value,” and pointed to biomarker data showing a strong, dose-linear suppression of neurofilament — a sign of nerve cell damage. A phase 3 program involving more than 2,000 patients is now underway, with data expected in 2026. In progressive MS, Immunic is close to reporting data from its phase 2 CALLIPER trial, having already seen positive biomarker signals at 24 weeks. Muehler addressed patients’ fears of disability, stressing the company’s commitment to tackling "progression independent of relapse activity (PIRA)", a key unmet need. He emphasized vidofludimus calcium’s dual mechanism — both anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective — and its potential to become the first oral drug targeting the full spectrum of MS. DP Poland CEO Nils Gornall on Pizzeria 105 acquisition strategy

DP Poland PLC (AIM:DPP) CEO Nils Gornall talked with Proactive about the company’s acquisition of Pizzeria 105 in Poland for £8.5 million — a key step in its strategy to transition towards a franchise-led business model. Gornall explained that DP Poland is the master franchisee of Domino’s Pizza in both Poland and Croatia, and this latest acquisition boosts the company’s franchised store percentage from just 8% three years ago to over 50% today. “The best Domino’s businesses around the world are franchisee-led. That's where we need to be,” he said. Pizzeria 105 is the fourth-largest pizza chain in Poland, with 90 franchised stores. Caledonia Mining sees big profit jump in 2024; welcomes gold's move above $3,000

Caledonia Mining Corporation PLC (AIM:CMCL, NYSE-A:CMCL) chief executive Mark Learmonth talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s strong 2024 financial performance and strategic priorities following the release of its latest results. Learmonth reported a “strong end to a reasonably good year,” with annual gold production reaching approximately 78,000 ounces—within guidance—supported by favourable pricing. He highlighted that “gross profit for the year was 77 million, compared to 41 million last year,” with adjusted earnings per share rising sharply from less than $0.10 in 2023 to nearly $1.30 in 2024. The results were delayed due to a technical accounting issue, with Learmonth explaining this stemmed from a deferred tax calculation error dating back to 2019. He stressed it had “no impact on our actual tax liabilities and tax payments.” On project development, the feasibility study for the Bilboes project has been extended to evaluate options that could significantly reduce capital costs. These include the potential to export concentrate and relocate the tailings facility, potentially lowering upfront investment needs. Exploration at both Blanket and Motapa returned positive results. Learmonth noted that the Blanket resource base has been extended, and early work at Motapa uncovered “exciting mineralisation” in new areas. With gold prices currently above $3,000 per ounce, the company is focused on maximising cash flow and investing further in Blanket and other revenue-generating opportunities.
