Look here and click the "Description" tab at the top.

In the summary, the inefficient LCD example used LED backlighting. The point is to have a hybrid light transmission system to asist the LED backlighting function for use in overlit/outdoor situations, and reduce energy useage.

About halfway down there are more details about the use of LED's in one of the backlighting senarios. This may be the only part Deltron is invloved with.

This is a decription of LED use in conjunction with LCD displays as backlighting. From Wikipedia:

"Recently, two types of LED backlit displays have appeared in some televisions as an alternative to conventional backlit LCDs. In one scheme, the LEDs are used to backlight the entire LCD panel. In another scheme, a set of red, green and blue LEDs is used to illuminate a small cluster of pixels, which can improve contrast and black level in some situations. For example, the LEDs in one section of the screen can be dimmed to produce a dark section of the image while the LEDs in another section are kept bright. Both schemes also allows for a slimmer panel than on conventional displays."

Note this is a "recent" inovation.
The display I use now is,in fact, a Samsung BX2250,entirely backlit by LED's.Most newer laptop displays are now LED backlit. They use far less energy and are enviromentally friendly. Also has the nicest picture,IMO.:)

The abstract of the patent application is focused on "LCD panel, an active backlight for providing active backlighting, and a control system".The LED is not the innovation. The hybrid use/control system is.

That being said, and as I have said before,I could be totally wrong about this being what their working on,but,I do strongly suspect 3M is the company they are working with.

3M has over 800 patents and they apply for a bunch every month.
I'll be digging deeper to see if I can find something that corelates better to the PR.Remember,Deltron is probably in a non-disclosure aggrement so their PR could only be so specific.

I do thank you and greatly appreciate you making this point!

Best of luck Trading!!
