I contacted my insurance company (USAA) about whether or not having a hydrogen booster on ones vehicle would cancel out their insurance or not. First of all this is what I wrote:

"Good afternoon,

I was curious as to how having a Hydrogen Supplemental Unit installed on a vehicle would impact its insurance policy. I currently do not have one installed, but have heard conflicting rumors of it voiding insurance policies, etc., but would like to hear the real story. This particular unit does not STORE hydrogen, but directly generates/injects the gas into the engine causing higher gas mileage and lower emissions. I do know that the installation of such a device does not impact the vehicle warranty. For reference here is a website showing the unit(s) in question: http://www.highlineinnovations.com

Any information you provide would be very helpful. Thank you."

And this is the response I got:

"
Dear xxxxxxxx,

Currently, we have no rating structure to distinguish a vehicle with this system from any other vehicle. However, in the event of a loss, your vehicle would still be rated for Actual Cash Value, and additions to your vehicle would be capped at $5,000.

We value your business and the opportunity to serve all your financial needs.

Thank you,
Jacob Aquino
USAA"

As you can see, it DOES NOT void your policy (at least with USAA it doesn't). About the only restrictions they have is they only cover up to $5000 worth of modifications.

Might want to check with your individual insurance companies, but I'm willing to bank that they all pretty much say the same thing (IMO). Just a little bit of DD to get the day started :)

GO GO GO HLNT!!
