"Terminator 3000" Negotiations Still Alive

--------------------------- --------------------

The latest TDGI Filings mention Terminator 3000, so at this point this project is neither a go or dead, it may or may not happen.

from the August 19 TDGI Filing:

Prospective Titles – The Company has entered into agreements for selected distribution rights to some films that are slated to go into production during 2011 and 2012. The financing for these titles requires the participation of entities outside of the control of the Company, and as such, there can be no assurance that these films will actually be produced until filming commences. Accordingly, these titles have been categorized as “Prospective Titles” that may – or may not – be included in the Company’s release slate for 2012. Key items under this category include:

“Terminator 3000” (aka “T3K”) – An animated, sci-fi feature from the “Terminator” franchise, set to be directed by Glenn Chaika; subject to the third party rights approvals and participations.

A couple quick comments. We know the hedge fund owning Terminator rights shopped Terminator heavily in the spring. The 2 studios in the running rejected the idea of a new Terminator. There does not appear to be any new suitors. I have posted in the past that this does not appear likely as any new Terminator is just too costly, no studio is willing to take the risk.

This does leave the door open for an animated version of Terminator because it can be made for cheaper costs which makes a project feasible. We also know that TDGI CEO Eric Parkinson owns the rights to any animated version of Terminator, so there will not be an animated version that does not include TDGI.

We also know the hedge fund Pacificor paid $30M for the Terminator rights and is chomping at the bit to make some money on the Terminator Franchise. (They certainly do not want to see their $30M investment go down the toilet).

It is interesting that the proposed project is set to be directed by Glenn Chaika.
