You are confounding the use of "test" to describe two completely different situations.

The test referred to in the quote you listed (that "takes only 48 hours to test) was a test to see if the sequence to be changed by using the zinc fingers was actually changed in the desired manner (if you read the entire post from which the quote was taken that will be clear).

No one really doubts that the desired genetic changes will be (or rather, by now, have been) accomplished. What the big question is, is whether or not those changes will accomplish the desired results: the production of pure spider silk.

Those are the results we are awaiting so eagerly. To get THAT tested and independently confirmed (which in this case is absolutely essential unless a clear and unmistakable marker was used this time) may take a few weeks depending on where and to whom it was/is sent to be tested.

Also bear in mind that the first round of GMs (which is what the results are due from anytime now) may or may not have been sufficient to achieve pure spider silk. The second round of GMs may have been necessary for that result. We simply do not know at this point.
