I agree with you that the shareholders, the common shareholders are the last on their priority list. But, if they run the company well, and get it on its feet somehow... which I believe they are trying to do, then I as a common shareholder will by default (no pun intended) benefit as well.

They can reduce my shares but they can't erase them without erasing the company and I dont think that is on the table.

I like the idea of a partner. It would show confidence in the company I think more than the uplist ever could.
