That has happened to me before
I was given the reason that the trade needed to settle before the funds were available again. Supposedly that is one of the stipulations in the regulations, only Settled trade funds can be used. Here is another example of the Margin requirement. With 26k cash in my trading account I can have 52k in buying power for marginable stocks. However, a $1200 Option purchase will give me a margin call as the option has no intrinsic value and would put me below 25k daytrade equity. Amazing Eh? :^)
