Blinkx teams up with Future Publishing

Blinkx is the world's leading video search engine in terms of indexed hours of content according to management estimates.

Video-search engine firm blinkx (LON:BLNX) has agreed a tie-up with a new content provider, Future Publishing.

Future, Britain’s largest special interest publisher, will make its video content available and fully searchable on www.blinkx.com.

Blinkx chief executive Suranga Chandratillake said: "Future Publishing has a wide variety of high-quality special interest content - we are delighted to be able to provide this calibre of fun and informative content to enthusiasts in our global audience."

Content relevant advertising will be positioned on the website alongside Future’s specialist content and both companies will share the advertising revenues.

"(We) provide compelling and informative content for passionate enthusiasts across a range of interests, from cycling and automotive, to craft, technology, music and film,” said Future chief executive Mark Wood.

“Video content is a key strategic driver for our business moving forward.

"We are excited to partner with blinkx as its unique technology and advanced search capabilities provide the perfect medium to allow fans everywhere to easily discover and watch relevant video content online."

This partnership will add a significant amount of new content to the blinkx website, which already makes 160 million page impressions to over 25 million unique users each month.

Future has already embraced digital media as part of its business, it has over 100 digital editions of its magazines and it has also developed bespoke ‘apps’ for iPad users. Indeed around a third of Future’s commercial revenues come from digital media.
