For me it is much more than share price and the potential profits for me down the road. I'm at the hospital today doing my thing. We just lost a 3 month old infant (not my unit, thank goodness) to a fulminant gram positive infection. The child was symptom free at home until 4 PM on Wednesday. By 8 PM the child had a high fever. Admitted to our hospital by 10 PM. The child got Ceftriaxone and Vancomycin. By 2 AM the child had cerebral edema and we started Dexamthasone and Mannitol to reduce brain swelling. The child "coded" this morning, and despite all the efforts of the doctors and nurses the baby expired at 4:30 PM. That is only 24 hours since the first symptoms appeared. The cultures aren't even back yet, but I am sure it was staph, which grew rapidly in the blood stream and eventually produced a virulent toxin. I wish CYGX had 200 million in the bank to get the staph anti-bacterial on a fast track to human studies.
