Casey Anthony's 'failure to protect' contributed to Caylee's death, DCF says
After a nearly three-year investigation, DCF officials release comprehensive review of Caylee's death.

Casey Anthony and her mother spoke candidly with child-protection investigators when law-enforcement officials were looking for missing 2-year-old Caylee Marie in 2008, according to a final Department of Children and Families report released Thursday.

But all of the Anthonys, and her defense attorney Jose Baez, gave DCF the cold shoulder for nearly eight months when investigators wanted to question them after Caylee's remains were found in a swampy area near the child's eastOrange County home, the 12-page report shows.

And while the report doesn't carry much — if any — legal weight, it is the first document that places responsibility for Caylee's death squarely on her mother, Casey Anthony.
