The company has provided an update for its bio-coal manufacturing plant to be constructed at Cordele in Georgia.

Vega Biofuels’ Chairman/CEO, Michael K. Molen, announced that the company was working with HGA engineers on the various phases of the project – the design, implementation and construction of the plant. He added that upon completion of the feasibility study by HGA, Vega would receive the preliminary drawings, the plot, topo maps and motor list for the plant. The company will then commence the construction and installation of the bio-coal plant, he said. After completion of the project, the Georgia plant will be manufacturing green energy bio-coal that can be used in existing power plants that are fired by coal.

Engineers at HGA are well experienced in mechanical engineering, structural design, civil engineering, piping design, chemical process engineering, electrical engineering, control system integration, and instrumentation. HGA will also support Vega in acquiring staff for the green energy bio-coal plant.

The torrefaction process is used to manufacture bio-coal. It is essentially a partial carbonization that occurs in a low temperature environment at temperatures that ranges between 475 - 575°. The process reduces undesirable volatiles and is carbon neutral.
