I have been following the KDV story for years - actually since 2006, as I intended to invest a large amount in numerous plants.

At that time there was a big blog discussion about "KDV or not KDV" (I had and have to use online translation (Babelfish), so I probably just got the gist of the meaning). A gentleman under the Web name "Eagleflight", who used to be an insider and was kicked out by Dr. Koch as so many after him, was very knowledgeable and showed that many of the claims just could not be true. Was he proven wrong? I don't think so. This whole project smells!

So I am wondering, what really changed since then? The pictures and CADs became better, the Website and PR more sophisticated and slick, but the reality does not seem to have changed.

Talking to some people in the renewable energy trade, who have attended the "seminars" in Tarragona and Eppendorf, there is still the old smoke screen with little proof. Business models are still based on "EN590" quality, while there seems to be no plant in the world that is working continuously and actually producing this quality. Is Alphakat providing warranties for production yield and quality and backs it up with performance bonds? I have never heard that.

Let us remember: The KDV system appeared in 2004, which means seven (!) years ago. In the meantime some people bit the bullet of investing in a non-proven technology to be the first in the food chain... But it looks that numerous parties failed. I made a list over the years - plants in Italy, Germany (Eppendorf and Hoyerswerda), Spain (supposedly Madrid and Tarragona), Mexico, the US (Covanta in Massachusetts), Finland, Bulgaria, etc. As far as I can judge, none of these plants is actually working and producing with a constant production level. Please correct me, if I am wrong.

The only one seems to be in Barrie, Canada, but I was told that this specific unit was completely modified by other German engineers and is only running with a very specific plastic feedstock.

So I did some more search and was looking for the old "Eagleflight", who does not seem to be active anymore. But there are still some quite entertaining blogs in German (again: I have to use online translation (Babelfish), so I probably just get the gist of the meaning). http://ff.rapsinfo.de/cgi-bin/talkrecpres.pl?submit=List+Thread&baseurl=http://ff.rapsinfo.de&msg_num=38765

But what I read is already enough. Can anybody convince me that this is NOT all a big smoke screen of clever marketing? Where can I see a "real plant"?

They are talking about a KDV150 in Eppendorf. However, that is still a test bed, no production. This state they have maintained since 2006 - no progress in five years. Tarragona was supposed to go into operation in 2009 - it still does not seem to work today, or are there different information available? I cannot find any confirmation on the net about Tarragona, and the people I talked to told me that during the seminars there was no material input, only something pumped from somewhere into the unit.

The Alphakat website claims that more than 2000 people have seen the test plants - and out of these people not one was able to purchase and operate a full-size plant on a commercial basis? That sounds very weird to me and fishy.

As much I liked the idea, when I read about it, the more wary I become now to invest. I would appreciate your comments.
