The loss has everything to do with the re-valuation of the warrants. This takes place every quarter for as long as they are outstanding. If the stock price goes up then the value of the warrants go up and ARIAD takes a charge. Its non-sensical accounting treatment for a transaction that took place in the past and has no effect on the ARIAD's cash, operations or balance sheet.
