So true! This reminds me of the seminal article by Judith B. Rosner, Ph.D. entitled "Ways Women Lead" published in the Harvard Business Review in the November-December 1990 edition.
I didn't take the time to find a link to the entire article, but I guarantee it is an excellent read for both women and men.
I was the sole female and the youngest in executive management of a $400 million corporation when the article was published and described my style of leading. My male "command and control" colleagues never understood why I had such good rapport with the department Directors and employees down to the lowest level minimum wage workers and how that made my division by far the best performing. Our CEO actually felt threatened by my popularity with the employees, most of whom were women.
