After graduation from Yale and the University of Georgia, Dr. Polk served in the United States Army as a Special Forces officer during the Viet Nam era.After military service he completed Doctoral studies at the University of Southern California and a clinical internship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas.Dr. Polk spent 5 years as a practicing Clinical Psychologist in New York.After clinical practice he joined Booze, Allen and Hamilton as a Senior Consultant, specializing in solutions to the human equation in diverse corporations.
From the mid 70's to 1983 he was Director of Field Training & Recruitment for Hilti, an international manufacturer and marketer of construction products and Vice President of Sales force Development for United States Leasing, the world's second largest leasing corporation.
In 1984 Dr. Polk founded Management Resource Systems, Inc., a human resource consulting firm providing turnkey recruitment and evaluation services, seminar development and delivery, training, organizational development, psychological testing and performance appraisal development and implementation.Management Resource Systems clients have ranged from Fortune 500 multi-nationals to start-ups.Primary concentration has been in medical instrumentation, high technology, construction products and financial services.Dr. Polk has been or is currently a founding board member of Applied Data Systems, Targeted Response Advertising, Tours.com, American Dental Laser and Gilbergroup.
