Lowtrade: OTC getting started question

You've mentioned several times that most people get their start in the OTC when they're dealing with small amounts of money. I've seen all sorts of OTC plays. The momos, The pump and dumps, the early pond fishing plays, the news chase, etc.

So how would you tell someone with $1000 to start? Drop some $100 lines in the pond and wait, try and find a "real" otc play and actually invest in it, or something totally different?
