You are right there never should.

By your explanation there should never be a 0.0001 ask.

The MM's are not allowed to bid less than .0001 so there would obviously be no 'spread' or profit selling shares at an ask of .0001. Unfortunately, as we well know, billions of shares have been made available by the company behind the scenes at a discounted price. Those shares can be sold at .0001 and still provide a profit. Where do you think all those billions of .0001 shares came from?

Shares should be available at 0.0001 anytime there is no bid.

Why? You cannot force someone to lose money. If an MM can only buy shares from the market at .0001 and there are no more discounted shares available, you certainly can't make him sell them at the same price. Neither can you make him buy more than he needs to manage his business. Once he has all he needs he can't keep buying forever, he has to discontinue his bid.

Anyone paying 0.0002 for a no bid stock is nuts. (Buying a 0.0001 stock isn't the brightest thing to do in the first place, usually).

I can't argue with that, but it looks like the lightbulb is starting to illuminate.
