***AT&T - WiMAX Tests to Begin in May Category: Broadband - March 17, 2005
By Jim Conley [426 Reads] Print Page / Email Story / Discuss [0 Posts]
Do you work in Middleton, New Jersey? If so you could be one of the first people in North America to see WiMAX in action. AT&T has announced WiMAX testing will begin in Middletown this May at distances of two to five miles with transfer rates as high as 6Mbps. Widespread testing is scheduled by year-end and, if everything goes according to plan, WiMAX could be commercially available to the rest of us by 2006.
For AT&T the move to WiMAX could mean billions of dollars each year in savings - AT&T is the largest seller of data and voice services in the US but leases over 97% of their lines from local carriers. WiMAX could change those numbers completely by allowing AT&T to replace last mile networks with their own towers.
The WiMAX standard, officially known as 802.16 comes in two flavors, fixed (802.16.d - up to 75Mbps at 4-6 miles) and portable (802.16e - up to 30 Mbps at 1-3 miles). AT&T will be testing both in Middletown. So why Middletown, a town of only 69,000 people? It's all about location - Middletown is 71 miles from New York, 62 miles from Philadeplhia, and is also the location of one of AT&T's three research labs. Although the present WiMAX spec tops out at 6 miles, its believed the technology could reach distances of 30-40 miles which is more than enough to reach the edge of the urban sprawls of Philly and the Big Apple.

***When you talk to TA you will know now; the tone is different
As per TA "Since Hop-On is still a Pink sheets company not yet SEC reporting; can’t give out any info regarding O/S or A/S".
Comments: As though TA forgot about this company as a same old pink sheet company before the name change. Any way my point is they used to give this kind of info freely before but not anymore. May be the management has an eye on that newly A/S.

***Hop-on Prepaid... Hop-on is launching a nationwide prepaid service on June 15, 2005. If you are interested in becoming a dealer or distributor, click here

Comments: Lunching this website on June 15 remains to be seen...

***Regarding HOP1806 is being 'OutOfStock' on ekit mobile:-
United States 1-888-513-8804 When I talk to those guy's they were saying 'Hop-On phones, they are not going to sell forever, OutOfStock forever' instead they are pushing 'siemens' with their own carrier calling plans.
Comments: May be this is 'on the way' with June 16th Hop-on Prepaid release, if it happens then PR->Website->Dump for sure. Yet again why should they loose a third party? May be ekit is fed up with Hop-on who knows.

***As per Level 2: BiD 15000 @ $0.20 and ASK 5000 @ $0.29 (Sounds familiar).

PS: billytbone Just this one. Thanks
