I've lived here in San Marcos since 1993.
My wife was a San Diego native which I met while I was in the Navy here, early 60's. Pretty much stayed in the area, other than a couple of job relocations, for short stays.
She passed away about 3 years ago, but I stayed here anyway. Couldn't justify moving back to my roots in Nebraska !! haha
