I guess. I disagree on the definition of a value stock. A value stock to me has a huge book value relative to price. Just having historical earnings doesn't make it a value stock. All that does it make it easier, maybe, to calculate the future earnings using historical numbers. In some cases, for example ASTC, I'm more confident about future earnings happening than 90% what I see people calling "value" stocks. Historical earnings can be a great guide but is not the way to value a fundamental story going forward nor does it assure earnings will be in the future either.

I think each and every case as to be looked at individually. I personally consider JBII more of a fundamental stock than a story stock, and I think most of the investors who bought in, including a billionaire, see it that way too. It's the numbers within the story that's far more interesting than the story. In fact, the story would be actually quite boring without the numbers for me. There's plenty of energy companies that aren't economically viable that put me to sleep. JBII has the first and only viable, scaleable green energy process in history.
