Sorry but I don't see Fannie or Freddie doing that. I do see the county doing that with tax defaults. They sell a lien to a third party who then lays claim to your house and forces the foreclosure. Since a tax lien doesn't require an auction, they can then purchase your house for the amount owed on the taxes.

This is all done by the local governments. Fannie and Freddie have no control over it.

Fannie and Freddie are both stepping in and contracting with Realtors to market the house directly and eliminating the third party ownership. Fannie and Freddie are fighting what you are describing.

I've also discovered if your late on the last payment of the half, the counties are charging an administrative fee as well as a late fee and 22% interest. Your never sent any notice and your house payment goes up by 100.00/month. Because they aren't required to send you notice of the fee, you blame the bank for the increase in your house payment when it's the county tax department.

Now they grabbing homes from seniors using the tax default.
