That is called representative democracy SJO...the school board YOU DO elect to represent you approves the teacher contract. You are asking for DIRECT DEMOCRACY...which would never work unless you can personally guarantee that the majority of a society is educated on such issues...and we both know that isn't true!!

Obviously I'm a teacher so this really irritates me. I went to college for 4 years, then another 4 years earning 2 masters degrees...and you want to penny pinch my benefits while trusting me with what should be the most important thing in your life...your kids. What should be changed is the process to get rid of lazy teachers...that I'll give you.

Try taking a look at the salaries/bonuses paid to execs of United Healthcare or Exxon Mobile if you want to see some blatant gouging.
