Could've happened to LLEG. The SEC does have a tip/complaint submission portal and is discussed in chapter 2.2 of their enforcement manual. IMO, if LLEG wasn't on their radar, a concerned citizen could've submitted the online form with or without having spoken with an agent and the SEC would research the claim for veracity and/or the possibility of a securities violation.

Not saying it did happen but the idea that the SEC doesn't follow up on complaints is pure folly. Why else would they have the portal and why would there be a section for "tips" in their enforcement manual.

The SEC saw something they didn't like. It could've stemmed from a complaint. Could it have been a misunderstanding or outdated information and LLEG is working diligently to rectify the situation? I sure hope so. Could it have stemmed from a commission that has been embarrassed in the past because of items they missed or overlooked? Could be. Could it Have stemmed from a commission that is facing even more scrutiny based on the entire government facing cutbacks (even the military is facing cutbacks and they are still engaged in numerous operations worldwide) and this is an attempt to justify the need for the budget, manning and possible increases? Maybe.
