Looks like there is no need for the heating element in REAL. The SIMILAR cig FAQ states...

"How does a SIMILAR Smokeless Cigarette work?

When the user inhales air rushes through the filter, delivering the nicotine and food flavourings that evaporate in the mouth."

Note that there is no heating element in the SIMILAR cig.
