My clothes dryer died and I found this video on the innernutweb;

despite their caveats "don't try this at home, this should only be done by a professional...." I went ahead and pulled the capacitor out of the dryer. Didn't get killed. So far so good.

Next problem was to figure out what the hell a capacitor is called in French. Condensateur. Next step, find out where the hell to buy one, that took a week or so and several conversations.

So finally I find a company that sells them. I need 7.5ùF they only have 6ùF or 8ùF on their website.

I wait a couple days and finally call them. Guy tells me the 8ùF will work fine. So I order it, 4 euros plus 5 euros shipping. Decent price I figure.

So I got the part Thursday and the capacitor has 4 terminals on it, the broken one had only 2.

I asked around a bit, no one had a clue, so I said fuckit, I'll just hook it up and see what happens.

After about 3 hours the firefighters got the fire under control....
