texnet, yes you are missing the picture because in your example ERFW still owns 95% of Energy Broadband and your ERFW stock would not be worth zero but would be worth 95% of what it is before the dividend. In reality, since this action will likely cause Energy broadband and thus ERFW to increase in value your ERFW holdings will likely go up and not down. When you look at the whole sum your total holdings should increase in value considerably.
