By licensing the slam engine, they will get a percentage of every game sold that is developed with it. This has the potential to generate a HUGE amount of revenue, much more than any set of games on an app store could generate.

In my company, that's how we prefer to sell our software also. It's a toolkit that is embedded in other applications, and our company gets a slice of the pie for every one of our clients applications that is sold...we don't have to sell anything. By partnering with large corporations, the software gets sold to a much larger market than we could ever reach, and we are able to take in royalties for all programs sold that contain our software. The same principle applies for the slam engine and DNAD.

Imagine if 10 companies developed 5 apps for the app store using the slam engine. DNAD would get revenue for 50 games, each downloaded 1M times...that's a lot of revenue, with very minimal, if any, development cost (of course all numbers used are fictional :))
