Seawind Marine....

£2.4 Million Humber Gateway meteorological mast EPC contract for Eon.

In Q4 of 2008 Seawind Marine was awarded a £2.4M contract to design, construct and install a meteorological mast in the Humber Gateway for Eon. This met mast will then be used to monitor the met ocean and weather conditions in preparation for an offshore wind farm due for construction in 2013.

Seawind worked closely with Scott Wilson Consulting Engineers to design and construct under a fast track programme a 90m met mast. These works included procuring and managing the fast track manufacture of a 101 Tonne monopile from a European supplier, fabricating a bespoke demountable access and platform system and installing all of the equipment during the summer of 2009 using the Lynn spud raising barge, a 400T crawler crane and 60T IHC Hydrohammer.
The monopile, platform, access systems, mast and ancillary equipment were all installed within 40 hours of on location working time. This ability to rapidly erect the equipment was due to the modular design that Seawind developed and enabled the project to be constructed in short weather window periods.
Seawind completed the work within budget, without incident and on programme despite some of the worst July and August weather conditions experienced in recent history.
