Comments from another investor on the "beneficial" effects of the Nortel auction

The winning Nortel bid might surprise all of us, it could well be more than $2.5 bil.

Microsoft, Google and Apple are all cash rich and want to remain that way.

Microsoft did not show interestbefore in these patents because they thought that they had a perpetual use of them.

It appears though that with a potential change of ownership of Nortel's patents they may not.

With these "big three" on the hunt for safeguarding their money making operations plus other interested parties, the auction could be most interesting.

The total package of Nortel's heirloom patents are too costly for Wilan, but the successful bidder may sell some of it off to a interested third party (i.e. Wilan).

Secondly, the bigger the winning bid is the more Wilan will benefit.

It will increase the valuation of Wilan's patents and will more than likely help negotiating better settlements and licensing its patents.
