W.A. Drew Edmondson, Attorney General Poultry Litter Talks Set for June 05/20/2005 Attorney General Drew Edmondson and representatives from nine poultry companies today said negotiations between the state and industry will resume June 7-9 in Tulsa.
The talks are aimed at resolving issues regarding poultry litter utilization in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas watersheds. Edmondson is negotiating with Aviagen, Inc., Cargill Turkey Products, LLC., Cobb-Vantress, Inc., George’s, Inc., OK Farms, Inc., Peterson Farms, Inc., Simmons Foods, Inc., Tyson Foods, Inc., and Willowbrook Farms, Inc.
The meetings will be mediated by Judge Thomas Brett, a retired federal district judge from the Northern District of Oklahoma.
The state and the companies say they look forward to the talks and hope the issue can be resolved without litigation. The negotiations will be conducted in closed meetings with both sides signing a confidentiality agreement. All statements from the meetings will be jointly approved.
