True mdb1. Even if it ended up costing more up front, the lifetime cost could be much lower.

Something else that came to mind is how it dissipates the heat. I have a friend who is studying the grid and told me that one of the reasons for brown-outs in the summer is because the lines heat up and "stretch". So to minimize that, they have to reduce the amount of power going through the power lines.

If the lines stay cooler, then if I understand correctly, more power can be transmitted through during the heat of the summer without additional lines. Cool! (literally LOL)
