TIP OF THE DAY
Something that just popped back into my head, and can't believe I never mentioned this.
DON'T BY STOCK JUST TO BUY STOCK!
I find that I struggle with this one myself, and actually "as we speak" because I'm looking for something to buy, when I shouldn't buy anything.
What this means is we all occasionally have a good chunk of free cash in our accounts. The first thing we do is search for a place to buy it, and maybe we bid sit but then don't get filled, so we adjust. We make poor buying decisions. And often those poor buying decisions lead to a loss.
It's not necessarily what we "sell" a stock for that's most important...it's usually what we "buy" a stock for that dictates the profit.
