Raizen was created earlier this month as a joint venture of Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA.LN) and Brazilian sugar and ethanol group Cosan Industria e Comercio SA (CSAN3.BR).

Raizen will produce and sell over 2 billion liters a year of ethanol made from Brazilian sugarcane. It will distribute biofuels and over 20 billion liters of other industrial and transport fuels annually through a combined network of nearly 4,500 Shell-branded service stations.

Raizen also will boost sugarcane-crushing capacity to 100 million metric tons a year, up from current output of 60 million tons, Dias said. Ethanol production is expected to more than double over the next five years to five billion liters a year

.

we have our own sugar fields in florida but instead of making money we subsidize<lose money> the sugar market and all its strange bedfellows in palm glades florida.

this is why brazil is doing so well.......... they are swimming in oil and even produce tons of ethanol for export.......meanwhile back in the us.we have a trillion dollars a year that leaves the country for oil consumption...none of that money being taxed before it goes.....if we produced our own we'd pay down the national debt in 13 years,,,,,,,,or in 20 years the way obama is going with this.

instead we are dependent on Iraqis whose oil we didnt take to pay for the cost of the war as originally promised by George W.......and opec continues to price fix.......i guess making his oil friends happy were more important to him. My cousin just bought a prius and he can drive from florida to nyc on 50 bucks....... the nissan leaf too looks awesome.....all we need is a solar city like in china...
enough already.....put 3 to 5 thousand expendable filipinos on the reed bank already.........at 2 bucks a day thats only 10 grand a day for security.....mall security costs more than that..If you own the damn thing within your economic zone all these years, and it represents around 8 bil or more....then do whats right and necessary. why wait for china to make the next move......its time to play offense.you cant score if youre only playing defense nonstop.
we need to watch the price of fep closely the next month or so.
