Current hotels normally use CRT televisions and set-top boxes for there interactivity. Or, if they have a newer flatscreen, it will be with just the very basic menus.

Tivus's system allows users to interact with the same technologies they would use at home. Imagine being at the hotel and instead of accessing movies on demand you could point the TV to the web and access NetFlix. Or YouTube. Or maybe do your Facebook from there. How about stream music?
