Right now it takes about 8 ounces of gold to buy 1 share each of all 30 stocks on the Dow Jones average. Historic average is about 10 ounces of gold. We're not that far below the average right now. AT the current leveal of the Dow, an historic freak out level like 1980 would be 2 ounces of gold to buy 1 share each of the 30 stocks on the Dow Jones average. That would put gold at $6000 an ounce. History does tend to repeat itself.
