Hard to explain when I'm not privy to all the fine print either.

How things are suppose to work is a MM has X amount of shares to sell. If they run low, they up the bid to try and get us to sell them more.

But what if they didn't have to buy more from us? What if they could borrow from a clearing house that all the MM's use, (kind of like a joint account at the bank). If they used the clearing house instead of having to up the bid to get more shares, (and the ask rising in response), they could just keep the pps at the same level all day long. The joint account has been shut down, buddy. They are on their own - they will have to work for their shares.
