The point I have been making is that povidone iodine is not to be ingested. If, by accident, povidone iodine is ingested, the general recommendation is to call a poison control center.

The point is not that isopropyl alcohol is less (or more) toxic than povidone iodine. Both are dangerous to ingest. You are not supposed to drink either.

Use as an eyewash is not ingestion. I have already posted that a povidone iodine solution is sometimes recommended as a mouthwash. However, you are not supposed to swallow it. You are supposed to be careful to spit it out and rinse your mouth after using. (Likewise, the eye is to be irrigated after use of povidone iodine as an eyewash.)

But, I think you already know that. So, I do not see why you keep implying by comparison that SHBAN, a povidone iodine-based hand sanitizer, is OK to ingest and isopropyl alcohol-based hand sanitizers are not OK to ingest. Could you explain? ... eom
