there's also a park behind our house with a large pond so that's not good either and then there's our property with lots of food for them.

I had a friend in MD who's mom died from a snake bit working in her own garden. He came home from school found her and by the time she was taken to the hospital, she was already gone.

His dad for years was a mess over it. Never dated or remarried after that. He recently passed away of a heart attack.

Usually if you don't bother them, they don't bother you. But who's to say you're not going to accidentally step on one.
