Threejack, on the memory chips;

If PS3 will use one Cell chip with 256MB XDR, where is the 512MB XDR going to be used?

If you use four 512 Mbit XDR chips you get 256 Mbytes of memory; that is probably what will happen.

And on the one Cell chip (not four), it was always clear there would be one. The Cell chip has a cost of about $ 100 (at 90 nm) so four would cost $ 400. There is a lot of other hardware in that box, it would make it prohibitively expensive.

I can see Sony loss leadering to some extent on the box if they can profitably selling games for it, but not to the extent of hundreds of dollars per box.
