A strong proponent for the wireless networking market, his personal investment in the industry is a testament to ZigBee's potential. Presently, he is a high-tech venture capitalist at Polaris Venture Partners in Waltham, Massachusetts. He serves on the boards of Polaris-backed start-ups including Ember Corporation, Narad, Paratek, and SiCortex. Most recently, Metcalfe received the National Medal of Technology from President George W. Bush. He is a Life Trustee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)."
