Think of it this way, in 1982 Bill Gates and Paul Allen had to raise capitol to create and bring to market DOS.
Everything takes capitol, moving 3 dredges from the states to Africa took money, hiring people in the area even at their standard of living takes money, everything takes money.
They won't realize their gains on production until it is actually brought to market, which also takes capitol to do.
