Back in the days when DEC existed, the rumor was that their marketing philosophy was "Marketing? What is marketing? We don't DO that here"...

Which it at least part of the reason they aren't a company any more.


Maybe those marketing types were among the ex-DEC folk
that AMD hired over the years.

There was the old joke of what would happen if DEC went
into the fast food market and competed against McDonalds.
They would market a cheeseburger as:

"Type 89112AA-12 food unit assembly; comprising
- item 12534, disk, partially carbonized ground quadruped musculature
- item 76621 A/B, heat treated wheat based disk substrate, upper
and lower,
- item 21423, disk conformal coating, bacterially processed
bovine lactose secretion."

Sounds yummy don't it?
