Back ground and Experience is what counts. I know some non certified people who I would trust with my health over some certified nut jobs out there and I know some non certified mechanics that know more and are more qaulified then most 3 certified mechanics put together. I can easily see how it would be the same for geologists. Don't let the Red Tape of bureaucracy fool you from spotting and benefiting from true professionals in this world. Not saying certifications don't have there place but they only go so far and mean so much.
