The modern state of Jordan (or transjordan) was originally the palestinian homeland. The arabs own 98% of all the land in the middle east along with 100% of the oil. The palestinians are arabs, yet none of the arab states will take them in. The reason they will not take in their arab brothers who live in misery is to make certain that there will be no peace in the middle east as long as the Nation of Israel exists. The elimination of the Jews is the only goal for the palestinians and other arabs -- peace with Israel has never been and will never be an arab goal. Peace with Israel is unacceptable. The very existence of Israel is unacceptable to them.

100% of the blame for the plight the palestinian arabs is because of the unanimous refusal by the other arab states to resettle the palestinians within other arab lands. Had they done so, there would be no problem and there could be peace in the area, but that will not be the case, as noted above.

When Israel became a nation ("in one day") in 1948, all the arab states in the area told the palestinians to leave their homes in Israel while the arabs united in war against the new nation to annihilate the Jews. The arab states promised the palestinians living in Israel that once those arab states had exterminated the Jewish presence in the region, the palestinians would be able to return to not only their homes, but also that all the Jewish owned property and other assets would be distributed to them.

Foolishly, most of the palestinians listened to their fellow arabs, and the "smart" palestinians (a lot of them) even sold their lands to Israeli Jews, planning to get them back as soon as the Jews were eliminated -- and we all know how that turned out. In the providence of God, after attacking and expending the combined might of all their armies against the newborn state of Israel, the arabs lost.

So Israel survived and the initial borders of Israel were expanded when the combined might of the arab nations was twice more unleashed against Israel in unprovoked wars, attacking the small nation at its narrowest point where the entire Nation of Israel was only around 8 to 10 miles wide. Israel won both times, and they will never give back those lands that were so hard fought for after naked aggression by the arabs. They will also never cede back ownership and ultimate control of their capital city of Jerusalem. Until Israel gained control of Jerusalem from Jordan in 1967, Jews were not even allowed to visit and pray at the Wailing Wall, the only portion of their ancient Temple that is still in existence. Both of those gains will never be allowed to reverse, no matter what obama wants.

Israel is well within its rights in never returning land it gained during wars that were initiated by the arabs.
