This is very interesting, I was watching the news tonight and sure enough they announced how one of our very own local dealers in Orlando, will soon be accepting orders for the Nissan all-electric car.

Lithium is going places folks. Just wanted to share. This is very exciting.

DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Nissan LEAF will soon be showing up at the DeLand Nissan. The LEAF can go 100 miles on a fully charged battery.

Owner of DeLand Nissan Kurt Dye says you will only have to bring the car in for maintenance about every 15,000 miles and no oil changes.

Nissan Master Technician Derek Heim says, "It's all electric, it's got a lithium iron battery and an AC motor instead of an engine so it's just charges up the battery directly sending electricity to the motor and that's how you go."

The cars are so popular on the west coast where they were first rolled out, that there are barely enough to keep up with pre-orders right now, but the DeLand Nissan hopes to have them in by fall. You can order online starting this summer at NissanUSA.com.

As far as the charging stations, Central Florida is slowly getting up to speed when it comes to offering them. The Amway Center, Sanford Zoo and all Nissan dealerships offer them.
